On Saturday June 10, 2023 we will walk the N70 trail route in Berg en Dal near Nijmegen. Not only because it runs through Berg en Dal and we know highs and lows in our lives, but also because my uncle, Father Frans van der Lugt, studied in Nijmegen at the Berchmanianum.

Unique walking in the Rijk of Nijmegen

In few places in the Netherlands you will find such a unique walking route as the N70 route in the Rijk of Nijmegen. The N70 trail route runs over 8 'mountains' through the rolling forests of Berg en Dal and surroundings. Along the way, the hilly landscape offers beautiful views over the polders, floodplains and the river landscape of the river Waal and the Rhine. The cultural-historical character of the N70 nature walk is also unique. The origin of the N70 route goes back to 1970; the conservation year.

Raising money for Al Ard

With the pilgrimage 'Walk for Homs' we collect money for the Al Ard center that Father Frans van der Lugt founded in Syria in 1996. To make the entire project completely self-sufficient again, 250,000 euros is needed. With the Walk for Homs in April 2022, we have already been able to realize a part. Read here the travelogue of my trip to Syria in September 2022. In March and April 2023, Roderick and I will go to Syria to roll up our sleeves, so that we can hopefully be able to build the first building. reopen and receive the first young people with and without disabilities again.

Will you join us? Then I would like to ask you to register before June 1, 2023 and to collect at least 185 euros in sponsorship money. The sponsorship amount is based on the fact that there was only one Frans van der Lugt, who would turn 85 in 2023. We understand that raising money can be difficult, but we are happy to help you with some extra inspiration. View our sponsor tips here.

Whatsapp group

We will inform you about the Walk for Homs by e-mail. We would also like to be able to contact you by telephone and via Whatsapp for important information and sponsor tips. We will ask for your permission when registering. When you do this, you will be added to the Whatsapp group in May. This group is meant to inspire you and each other to raise sponsorship money and provide you with all the important information.
