How are you like your uncle?

More and more I get the question: "How are you like your uncle?". Today again when I was called by a journalist from De Groene Venen. My answer so far is: "Our character and job!".

Our character

My uncle and I do everything in our own way and what suits us, otherwise we don't do it. When we do something, we do it with a nice pace, a lot of energy, an enormous dose of passion, with great pleasure and always out of love for ourselves and others. We set the bar high and don't stop until it's settled, because we have integrity. We sometimes step on someone's toes. This puts us in front of a mirror for a while and then we continue. We act with the best of intentions, although it sometimes doesn't seem like it from the outside.

We are zijn spiritual

We meditate and are very much involved in spirituality. People live together and I think our energies do more than we consciously experience. Just feel good when you walk into a room where people are already there. What will happen to you then? Take a good look and at the same time listen carefully to the person in front of you what is happening to you. The feeling that Frans is looking over my shoulder is something I have more and more now. That's why I still talk about him in the present tense. On April 7, 2014, he may have said goodbye to us physically, but his being may still be there. I am convinced that he is watching with a smile on his face and with pride, because his ideas are continued in his and my way. I think this is a nice thought myself, so "ilal amam, go ahead!

Beautiful memories

It's really great to have discovered so much about my uncle in the past months. I'm sure this won't be the end of it. Everywhere I go I meet people who know who he is or who have a connection with him again. I receive the most remarkable stories and beautiful memories about him. This week I sent an email to the primary and secondary school that Frans attended, because there may still be classmates with beautiful memories. I can't wait what stories will cross my path tomorrow and the days that follow.
